Holding your data
Since May 2008, General Data Protection Regulation provides you with greater privacy rights. The information you share with me is used for the sole purpose of delivering the service. No identifying information is passed on to third parties. The data I hold about you is kept on a password-secured database.
Confidentiality
I want you to feel safe in our therapy sessions. Whatever you share with me is confidential. Even in clinical supervision, a professional requirement for best practice, identifying information will be removed. I will not share your information with a third party, such as with another healthcare professional, unless I receive your permission. I will not acknowledge you in a public setting to preserve your right to privacy. There are limits to confidentiality. I will have to consider breaking confidentiality if you are at serious risk or there is a serious risk to others; for child protection reasons; if legally compelled to do so. In such an unlikely event I would try to talk this through with you first.
Cancellations and schedule changes
If you need to change a session time, or if you need to cancel a session, you need to give seven days of notice or the full fee is payable. I will always endeavour to offer an alternative time in the week if at all possible.
International working
Online counselling (VOIP, instant messaging, video conferencing) takes place over the web using Zoom, Skype, WhatsApp or FaceTime. The therapist is based in London, UK, and international participants need to be mindful of their local legal considerations before seeking therapy online.
